driving = yay

i'm getting the hang of this driving thing. i'm still really nervous around my instructor, but when i drive with david there's no problems

I drove for the first time this afternoon. It's weird but not too scary. I'm certainly much less nervous after an hour than I was before I started. I don't like concentrating that hard for too long though

the first time is so freaking weird. i went so slow. barely broke 30 k's.

The accelerator in the car I drove was really sensitive, and the area is pretty hilly, so I broke 70k once or twice, accidentally. I'm not looking forward to dealing with the gears in the manual, but I am looking forward to having better control over speed...

david's car takes a while to gain speed, and the brakes are really good so it's a good car to learn in. except his steering sucks. it's really hard. i get used to my instructor's steering being super easy, but her accelerator is sensitive. i can't win lol.

is fun once you get confident though

When I was first starting to drive, I'd just let the car go as fast as it idled &drove around the neighborhood at that speed. lol

I WENT ON A MAIN ROAD TODAY! i actually drove over 60k's woo! now i can drive to work and shiz

I hate this...you all are in the UK & I'm in America...I don't know the rules for learning to drive over there or converting Kilos to Miles per hour...

But CONGRATULATIONS on driving on a main road & being able to drive to work & stuff! WOOHOO!

or to go the other way:
you have a celsius temperature of 100 degrees and you want to convert it into fahrenheit. you first multiply the celsius temperature by nine-fifths and get 180. then you add 32 to 180 and get 212 degrees fahrenheit

it's 51.8 F here right now. was raining earlier [and i was shitting myself about my driving lesson] but it stopped by 10am and is sunny again.

Glad it stopped raining. When your first learning how to drive, driving in the rain is so SCARY!!

well it was still wet, and the sun shining on the road made it difficult but my instructor says all that's good for learning how to deal with hazards. fun.

haha I have a funny story about "experiencing" while driving.

My instructor made us stop @ 7-11 to get drinks. I believe he just wanted something to drink. But he bought me a slurpee & made me drink & drive! lol It was crazy!!! lol

lmao, if i take my hands off the wheel i better have a damn good reason for it or else my instructor will be pissed. drinking = no way!

i drove to the supermarket today. i've never parked in a car park so i was quite clearly going to be retarded at it. i had my L plates on so you'd think most people would see me and run a mile, or speed past me in irritation even though i'm oberying the fucking law.

anyway i pulled into a spot from the left but i fucked it up and ended up in two spots so as i reversed out to correct it, some bitch pulls up right next to me in the barely anything space i'd left. she then proceeds to stare angrily at me for having parked incorrectly. UM HELLO BITCH? you must've seen my fucking L plates, and that i was in two spaces AND THAT I WAS TRYING TO FIX MY PARKING JOB before you decided to pull in next to me and making it harder for me to back out without scraping up your car.

my second attempt at pulling into a spot was good. the only sucky part was people not letting me back out! fuckers kept coming past.

i do laugh that i'm reasonably fine at parallel parking, but i can't pull into a spot yet. lol.

other than that, driving's been lovely

dude my fucking car stalled just as i got a green light. i'm driving an auto, that shouldn't happen! ofcourse i hit the break and re-start the car, but what has david done without my noticing and with him telling me? put the hand brake on AND put it into park. so i was like: "holy shit the car's not going! wait, why's the hand brake light on? DAVID WHAT THE FUCK?! DON'T DO SHIT WITHOUT TELLING ME!"

BOO to David! lol

I love driving

I passed my test at home in England (4th time...ahem) and then had to learn again when I moved to Portugal, as we drive on the right out here! Didn't have to have any formal lessons or anything, but every day was a school day learning how to navigate roundabouts the wrong way around and trying to get out of junctions without taking the wrong turning point and colliding with a bus!

Got the hang of it now, been out here almost nine months...but going back to England in December for a holiday and I'm going to have to go back to the left hand side of the road just for a week or so - I'm dreading that lol!
